Hi All.
I’ve seen topics regarding upgrades to XP Pro but have not seen one that applies Windows 2000 Pro to TR3A.

Due to requirement at work, I have to install Win2K on my system as a dual boot option. I was able to get most of the functionality to work except for the motion eye, audio/SoundMax and the wireless lan.

I don’t need the motion eye or even the audio (would be nice) since this setting will only be used at work. But I do miss the wireless connection since I now have to be connected physically to go online/access the LAN.

I’m hoping I could rely on the wealth of knowledge of this board to point me in the right direction. I have installed the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG driver and verified that it is working properly. But I have been unsuccessful in finding the wireless configuration utiity (the other pair) that will allow me to assign SSID, etc to make the wireless connection to work for Win2K. The one Sony has available for downloading works for XP only.

Maybe you should upgrade to the A/B/G card and use that utility on W2K.

I was trying to find out if there exists a generic configuration utility for the Intel Pro Wireless that works on Win2K. Upgrading to a new wireless card is not an option at this time.

Unfortuantely Win2k is almost completely unsupported now…IMO it took off too late and XP already dominated…as you stated you have a lot of problems so it stops people from using it.

If you dont want to upgrade the internal one, did u think about buying a cheap PCMCIA solution for around $20 or less?

Good luck. I’d watch the weekly newspaper for some free-after-rebate or really cheap 802.11b PC Card that you can verify that it has w2k utilities.

It turns out that I have only downloaded the Intel PRO Set for Wired connection. This takes care of the LAN connection using Ethernet cable but not wireless connection.

Since Intel does not provide for the Wireless download, I was able to get PRO set for Wireless from a tablet pc website. Now I’m all setup for wireless.

Now I’m only left without the camera function and sound which is ok.
