Ok, maybe im just not meant to have bluetooth on my TR. I just got in another module and quickly installed it to see that blue light again. When I first powered it up the light did come on, then after about 5 minutes, its like it shut off, I heard the typical “device unplugged” sound and the light went off. No matter how much I reinstall the software it doesnt work.
I remember someone had once mentioned that sony was charging 50 bucks or so for the bluetooth module, labour extra. If u could ask them to do the upgrade for you, and if ur TR is still within the warranty period (and if the daughter board is faulty) they would discover it themselves and replace it since its under warranty. Obviously if u had to tell them that it was faulty, that would end ur warranty there itself.
determined that it wasnt a bad module, again, i reinstalled this time taking care not to route the cable over or by anything that may short out the conneciton. i did a little experiment where i powered up the machine with the keyboard off, the top unmounted and the cable hanging out, where the cable connectors werent close to anything and voila! blue light.
having a hunch that the first one was not defective, i swapped out the boards and it worked also. so, hard lesson for me i suppose.
its just my luck with stuff like this. if anything could go wrong, it WILL happen to me.
so, ive got an extra BT module if anyone is interested
Well, at least you got it working properly now and that’s good to hear. I’m sure that you’ll find someone who will want to take that module off your hands.

how much for the module .... what was the reson that made it not work was it the cable touching something it should not have ..?
thats my best guess. its hard to explain, but i had the cable routed one way and the connector on the card itself had its “long axis” running parallel to the short end of the card. in other words, there was a good chance that the metal parts of the connector was touching something it shouldnt have.
i rerouted the cable so that the cable would run its long axis parallel to the long end of the card: running away from the card then back around toward the other connector.
if youve been in your TR as much as i have, especially as of late, you will know what im talking about.
like i said, its just a guess, but so far its working.
