I think its detailed in the manual but the there are two memory slots under the cover on the bottom of the machine. Mine has a 512MB module in one slot with the other vacant for a 256MB or 512MB module. If your unlucky you may have both slots occupied already with two 256MB modules.
I did some memory tests. The original Sony memory in my TR3A is PC2100 512MB CAS# Latency 2.5, RAS# to CAS# Delay 3, RAS# Precharge 2, Cycle Time (Tras) 6 and the Kingston memory is PC2300 512MB 2.0, 3, 2, 6 respectively.
Using SiSoftware Sandra 2004’s Memory Bandwidth Benchmark, RAM Bandwidth Int Buffered iSSE2 and RAM Bandwidth Float Buffered iSSE2 is as followed:
Single 512MB Sony Installed: 1512 MB/s and 1512 MB/s
Single 512MB Kingston Installed: 1515 MB/s and 151 MB/s
Dual 1GB Kingston & Sony Installed: 1519 MB/s and 1528 MB/s
For sure, the Kingston memory is faster than Sony. So I have the Kingston memory installed in first bank and Sony in the second bank.
