I got my TR2 off ebay and I believe it comes originally from singapore (well the sticker on the bottom says that it’s approved for use in singapore…) and I’ve put XP pro on it.  I’ve set it to use a UK keyboard and I now seem unable to to find \ and | keys.
Was wondering if anyone could tell me how to sort this without having to resort to using a US layout (no offense to Americans, but I’d rather not give up on my years of typing experience!!)

hmm ... I am from Singapore and my TR3 has the | and \ key just above the “enter” key on the right. Mine is TR3, which should be the same as TR2.

You might have to see if you can pick up a UK keyboard from Sony. I don’t think they keyboard is capable of generating the keycode you want. IIRC the UK keyboard has one more physical key.

Deathstar:  Yeah my keyboard has the same key above the enter key but that only gives me # and ~.  I think it all stems from the fact that shift+3 has to be a £ for us brits and so they start moving everything around.

Drachen:  Cheers for the info.  I don’t think it’ll annoy me enough to bother changing the keyboard.  I guess I’ll have to do without one of my favourite MSN emoticons :(

You could always use Alt+0092 for \ and Alt+0124 for |. Effectively on the TR that’s holding the Alt+Fn keys and then typing MM9K or MJKU. Not easier than hitting the “\” key, but it works.
