I’m a little dissapointed how the TR runs with 512mb, of course I should have a bit more powerful processor for someof the stuff im doing, but regardless, an upgrade to 1gig will help.

Now, the 512 from the factory, is that a 512 chip, and one open slot? Or is it two 256 chips?

With the latter, I’ll have to buy two 512’s, so i’m really hoping there is a 512 in there with one open slot left, cut the purchase price in half

Did anyone upgrade to a gig on their own? Where did you buy the ram? how much? install should be a snap, but any issues concerning install?

I’d dare say that nearly everyone here installed the memory themselves…unless they bought a 1GB model at purchase time.

It’s the easiest upgrade. One screw, one push and click and you’re basically done.

ok, so sony 172pin ddr is about 400 bones, and every other brand is half that. Is sony brand worth it?

Gonna open her up and see if I have a single 512 or dual 256 chips.

The Sony memory definitely isn’t worth it unless you purchased a 1GB model from the start. I picked up a 512MB Kingston module for under $200 and it runs/works great. Sony doesn’t even make the memory chips themselves, so don’t waste your money.
