I say buy it if you meet these:
- You like style
- Not really a power user (apps like cad, 3d; anything else should be fine)
- Have the $$$
- Don’t like weight lifting
- WiFi is a must
- Expectacular resolution (viva XBrite!!!)

Yes. It’s fine although if you use photoshop a lot you’ll definitely want an external monitor to go along with it.

This is iffy. For the most part, these programs will install and run fine. If you use the shading modes a lot for pre-visualization then expect it to run slow. Rendering itself should be pretty good. It may be 1Ghz but it’s as fast as a P4 1.8Ghz system in terms of SSE2 and FPU.

-As far as gaming, I don’t plan on doing to much and I understand that the TR has its limitations, but possibly be able to play CounterStrike (at a low FPS)

I think we’ve covered that in the gaming thread. For the most part, modest games seem fine.

-Some simple server aps such as lightweight windows based applications (XiWin32 - http server, etc.)

That’s probably not too bad. If it’s for testing then it should be more than adequate. It’s not like you’ll be hosting tons of people on your server.

Man, can’t sony make a powerhouse ultra gaming/3d graphics machine that is as small as the tr!!

Well, don’t put it all on Sony. I don’t mind if it’s anyone else that does it first like Fujitsu, Sharp, JVC, Toshiba, Hitachi, Panasonic, etc.

If they release it first you know that Sony will then bring one out that will trump the rest and cost a lot more. And of course, we’ll be compelled to buy it anyways.

You’ll notice that I didn’t mention any of the non-Japanese notebook makers (i.e. Dell, HP, etc.) since none of them know how to design subnotebooks anyways. Also, it’s not like any of those companies design things anyways.

Yeah, Dell and HP are def. not considered to be leaders when refering to the design of technologically advanced notebooks. The sad thing is, there is a possibility that I may purchase my notebook from them.

You see, if I am going to say “screw it,” let me treat myself and I buy a tiny ultra-portable notebook that I can take everywhere and turn heads, then I’ll buy the TR…even though I need power.

If I decide against the TR, then I’m gonna go all out and buy a powerful, heavy, graphics/gaming notebook. Such as the Dell Inspiron 8600 or XPS or the Alienware Area-51 or Sentia. Yeah I know they are on the complete opposite end of the spectrum as the TR (being that they are extremly heavy/big and fast)...but what can I do! This is the predicament I face. (which is why I was questioning the capabilities of the TR earlier)
