I’m not sure if this is news or not but it’s nice to see that the Powerbooks have been updated to finally have very nice specs. Still, the lack of G5 based notebooks sucks. Even if they were at lower speed grades (a la Pentium M) if would be nice to see an Apple G5 Subnotebook at 1Ghz…of course, the power dissipation of these chips is still a problem.
The specs are definitely better now with built-in 802.11g, USB2, Firewire 800, built-in Bluetooth, processor bumps and graphics bumps. I hope that other manufacturers **cough** Sony**cough** get with the program and offer Bluetooth standard across all models.
At any rate, I’ve got my fingers crossed on the new Dothan Pentium Ms and the new platform that comes with it. It should be a pretty compelling platform and will leave current offerings by Apple and current Windows notebooks in the dust. I’m willing to give Intel “Extreme” Graphics 3 a try but I’d rather have a discrete solution like the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700.
