You guessed it, I have a TR1/B.  Its great, though I would have waited if I knew these models were coming to the states.

When I got the machine, I put a fresh windows xp english installation on the second partition to see how it would work.  No support for the extras this machine offers.  I tried to find the drivers on the disks but dont know how they pack all that together.  Tried to hunt the drivers off the Japanese installation, no good.

I want a clean install of XP and then be able to install drivers for all the good hardware (camera, bluetooth, wireless, you know.)  Dont really need the fancy software it comes with, I`m sure you all can dig it.  I sifted through the posts and saw a bit of what i want to do, but for other machines.  Can any of you help me out?  Again, the goal is clean installation of XP (english or japanese) without the junk software but driver support for all the goodies.

Basically, you can follow the directions of the other posts since all TRs are essentially the same in terms of basic hardware. The only minor differences are the wireless chipset, maybe bluetooth and few minor things. However, it’s mostly the same.

Most of the drivers are located in the c:\windows\drivers directory however, the language versions may vary. You might want to try downloading the English language versions of most of the drivers at http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/cgi-bin/swu-header.pl?mdl_id=534&script_id=1&template=EN&mdl_country=1&HEADERFILE=1

Most of the drivers here will work except for the wireless chipset. The wireless chipset will probably require separate Atheros based drivers. There’s a link in these forums for that too.

I’ve had a similar issue with my Japanese TR1 I’ve posted on before regarding it’s inability to BT HotSync with my US Clie.  Sony Japan says the US Clie is not compatible with the Japanese TR though they haven’t been able to explain to me why.  I tried running the software install you posted (BTD_ASS_100S_UK.exe) for your own internal BT upgrade but it won’t run on my computer which I’m guessing has something to do with this software implementation being a UK version and it’s recognizing I’m trying to do an install o a Japanese TR1.  Is there a way to circumvent this?  Would a “clean” install of the US drivers work?

I do appreciate the help groovy.  I`ve collected all the original drivers for the tr2 (because of the bluetooth.)  Soon I`ll get on the installation of english xp and try things out.  Will be back when problems arise.  Thanks again.
