My DSL modem is outdated bigtime.  What are you guys using?

I just purchased a Linksys WRT54GS and I need a modem to go with it…I appreciate any recommendations.

I have SBC Yahoo DSL and it comes with and included Efficient Networks Speadstream modem (of varying models, I have the 5100).  It is obviously not top of the line since it is included in a “starter pack” but it has gotten the job done very well with me and my Linksys router :D .  I don’t see why you would have any problem with it either.

It has a 4 total ports etc. on the back: DSL-in (RJ-11) Ethernet out, D/C in, and a power switch.  It is fully compatible with my LindowsOS Developer Edition 4.5 and Windows and I suspect Mac ( I’m a Windows-Linux user :wink: ).  It should be relatively cheap to buy street price and it gets everything done well.  Hope this helped you out. ~God Bless

I should have done the same as you before I made my impulse purchase for the Linksys router.  My ISP will give me a 2Wire HomePortal 1000SW for free!!!! :o

Yea I am a very impulsive buyer I originally owned a HP zt7010.  :shock:  Worst decision i have ever made. I took it back 3 times within a month and finally returned it on the fourth time for my SONY TR!!!  :D Best laptop ever.  But what do you mean take the Linksys back?  I have the speedstream modem but I need the router for wireless.  Dont you?  And you have that signal booster technology.  I wish i had waited for that .  I got my Wireless-B router one week before those signal booster ones hit the shelves.  I’d buy it from you but I can’t take mine back as I got it with a special promotional.  Otherwise I would have gone with a wireless-g router.  Unless you wanna trade :wink:.  Anyway, god bless and yes, the bible is the users guide to life.  It is sad that so many don’t realize it.

I have a couple of Westell modems with Verizon DSL.  They are also kind of old. but… they’re just a dumb bridge after all, aren’t they?
