Okay, I upgraded my TR3A from WinXPHome to WinXPpro, and have been using my wireless connection for at least a month, but lately I have been getting dropped connections every minute or so.  It’ll see the wireless connection, but it will randomly drop the connection, and then reattach itself a few seconds later.  It’s playing havoc with my Counterstrike games! I’m using a stock TR3A upgraded to WinXP Professional, and my wireless router is a stock Dlink DI-624.  I know it’s not my router’s fault, because I have a desktop computer and several other laptops jacking into the router, and their connections are faultless. 
Any ideas, guys?  :cry:

Do you have 802.11x authentication unchecked? A lot of people have had success unchecking that box.

Alternatively, you could grab a hold of the Intel PROSet software which allows you to setup profiles and not use Windows XPs’ built-in wireless software (which is crappy).

Or, wait until SP2 officially comes out…it will have much better Wi-Fi support.

  Thanks for the help.  Do the PROset Drivers work with the TR3A Wireless set?  I’ve been roaching around the forums, and I wasn’t sure whether or not to get that, and I’m not certain if it’s compatible with the TR3A…clarify?  And as for 802.11x Authentication, by that, do you mean WEP? Should I disable that? Wouldn’t that leave me susceptible in my network?  Thanks again.

Guys I am having the same problem, my connection type is peer-to-peer and the connection is constantly dropping about every minute which is driving me crazy :cry: . Please help

Did you check in device manager that power saving is set to OFF. This is the primary reason most connections are dropped. 8)

oops. I meant switch power saving off on the wireless card. :mrgreen:

my link i gave on my old post for the new proset dosnt work so jest go to   and click on downloads then go down to the “Or, for all models…” and keep the drop down thingy on all downloads and click on the go to the right of it. then in the search window type in “intel proset b/g” and do the search. it should be the first few ones that pop up. the one for winxp should be the 4th one down. this is the proset that works with the 2200bg card.

Thank you guys for trying to help you are saving Sony support a lot of headache, the thing is I’ve triad the following to solve the problem by the way my system is TR3A Windows XP,
        1.802.11 x authentications unchecked.
        2.switching power saving off on the wireless card.
        3.wireless zero config.
I realize that when I am downloading files the connection would not drop
The dropping thing happen only when the connection is idle, again thanks to every one contributing with his knowledge to this cutting edge site.
