Windows XP Japanese/International?

So I’m in Tokyo and my current laptop is dying a slow, awful death.  And I’m really considering getting the TR2 as a replacement from here.

But the question is, does Windows XP International allow you to switch the interface to English?  Or is it actually Windows XP Japanese edition?  Thanks!

I’m not sure about Windows XP International but if you install Windows XP English + the Multi User Interface Pack (available from Microsoft), then you can install Japanese MUI on top of your english Windows XP interface and get 90-95% of the Japanese interface.

It allows different profiles to use different user interfaces/languages/menus. If also allows you to run a fair amount of Japanese software natively as well.

You can only do this with the English version of Windows XP as the base OS. You can’t turn Japanese XP into English XP…only the other way around.

Great - let me know what happens.  When I do decide to squeeze the trigger, I will probably get a buddy of mine in Tokyo to ship it to me.  Only because I want Wireless G and Bluetooth.  Is there a way to order it with XP Pro?  English? 1gig RAM?  In a perfect world of course.  This sounds like a pricy combo, but in the end, that’s what it’ll be anyway.  So it will just save me time if it comes that way.  Does such an animal exist?  Where to find?

The TR2/P in Japan comes in a 1GB model from the factory. So, yes, you can get it. It comes with 802.11a/b/g + bluetooth and everything else. Supposedly, it comes with a 3 year warranty as well!....but only in Japan…

Yeah, that’s the one I’m currently eyeing.  You mean 1ghz, right?  40gig hard drive.  Beautiful thing.
