Has anyone tried using the P900 with T Mobile?  Can you get them to support it?

Have P900 on Tmobile as we speak, works fine.  Just sign up for additional GPRS service for checking e-mail.  Most mobile phone companies don’t care about what phone is being used, only the SIM card inside.

Literally, the only thing you have to do is put the correct APN into the Control Panel for data.

would you just replace the sim card into the new phone?  i have a T610 with Tmobile now, how would I go about getting a P900 working.  Ive been looking at them on ebay, should I go for an “unlocked” verison?

Yes on both counts. A locked phone will only work on the network it was locked to, so if you buy an AT&T phone, you can only use it on AT&T, not on T-Mobile. You also have to worry about branding. Most providers change the firmware on phones, putting custom graphics on the phone or making the Internet button ONLY go to their home page.

My only worry now is setting up my dialip thru tmobile on the P900.  I had to call a “level 3” rep from Tmobile to get it setup properly.

Do you know if the symbian OS will run Palm applicaitons?

I have a CLIE with lots of software and would obviously like to port all that over to the P900.

There is no Palm emulator AFAIK. If you want to know what software is available, check out My-Symbian .

This will be the thing that keeps me away from this phone.  I do some work in the medical field and I need those references with me most of the time.

Its just another one of those crazy Sony things, why do Sony Clie PDAs all have Palm, and Sony Ericsson PDAs have Symbian?

If you want easy configuration of your T-Mobile GPRS account and a Sony Ericsson phone then go to their configurator page at:

Select Internet and put in your phone number and follow the prompts. It will send your phone a SMS message that configures your phone with all the necessary settings.

Then from your Bluetooth enabled TR, you create a new dial-up profile (using the Bluetooth Modem setting). For the dial up number you simply enter *99# and no username or password.

Click dial up and voila…you’re connected to the Internet instantly. It will say something crazy like 115.2kb/s but it’s really closer to 50kb/s max although I’ve seen it spike to 60kb/s (due to caching).

man i tell you my gadget-driven life has been that much greater since coming across this site.  i usually have to do all the research myself on whats next, what i need, what i need to stay away from, and what i just cant live without.  but here you can get all that and a bag of chips. 

had it not been for this site and groovyones excellent reviews i would probably have my TR on ebay right now trying to sell it to bring over a Jap. TR with all the bells.

im serious when i say that i have gotten to where i check this site as often at the news, which is hourly.  i just look forward to seeing what life-enhancing gadget youll review next.
