Even though a battery may be OK and quite usable, isn’t it a good idea to get your TR’s battery replaced under warranty just before the 1 year warranty period expires?

Sony is sure to replace it for you if the battery fails to perform to “spec”.

The TR hasn’t been out that long.  Nobody really knows. :(

Good question.  I’ve read that Li-Ion batteries like to be charged before they’re fully drained, but I usually just take out the battery if I know I’m going to be running off AC for a while.

With my luck, if I take out the battery, I will leave it laying around somewhere like the scatterbrain that I am.  If I am not mistaken the TR will not hurt the battery if it is already fully charged.  It has some sort of smart bypass that allows the battery to be fully charged without causing a memory effect.  This is the benefit of Li-Ion versus Ni-Cad or Nickel Metal Hydride batteries.

I’m sure this has been discussed before, but I cannot find the thread.  Even Li-Ion batteries start to lose some of their charge capacity after time and use.  It is not necessarily a memory effect, which is worse.  My TR has a design capacity of 47.63 or something.  I’ve had it for about 3 months now and at full charge it can only get to 47.11

What I read a while back…is the warranty on the VAIO is 1 year..
but only 30 days on the battery..
