Will this DVD-R/RW Drive work in the TR

Hi,

I just picked up a Toshiba SD-r6012 DVD-R/RW drive for a nice $75.  It was for another laptop, and knowing that I can put it into my other laptops, I was wondering if it would work for my trusty TR.

It’s standard laptop drive size (It’s already worked in my Dell and Ibook).  If you tell me that it will work in the sony, then I may just have to open the baby up.

Sure the DVD burn speed is 1x, but it has the same CD-R/RW burn speed as the original.  And hey it was $75.

Sorry, it won’t work. That drive is a 12.5mm model. The TR requires a 9.5mm model. As of right now, only Panasonic makes 9.5mm DVD-RW drives.

The only place I know to get the part is from a Sony Service Center. I’ll look around but right now it’s hard to find.

Mine is CDRW/DVD-Rom, so thinking of replacing it with a DVD-RW.
