Recently I discovered a problem exists in MS Excel seems due to the TR display driver and LCD monitor resolution. I’m using the MS Office XP, the problem I found is when creating a chart in Excel, I CAN NOT get the Y-axis title fully displayed in the chart, the Y-axis title just truncated. For example, if I entered the Y-axis title in the chart as “Sony TR World”, what actually displayed in the chart Y-axis is only part of the full title, in which it has truncated into “Sony TR Wo”.  :(

It is very strange and only happens with my Excel in my TR laptop. I have tried with other similar version of MS Excel in other PCs and I didn’t find this problem at all! I have done a research in the internet, and apparently people said this problem has been related to the screen resolution, monitor type and manufacturer of the system… I am wondering does anyone here has experienced similar problem as described here when creating chart using MS Excel? Or has anyone who have upgraded their display driver still have this problem?  :?:

Hope to hear from you guys to know whether I am the only one to have this problem…  :?

Uh… we’re geeks, not accountants. I balance my checkbook on SQL Server, not Excel.  If it is the display driver, try upgrading to the latest version from the Intel site. If that doesn’t do it, I’m not sure what to tell you.

I’m not accountant but I’m engineering researcher and I use Excel.  8)

Anyway, does the latest version of display driver from Intel support the ‘magnifying glass’ button? As I heard a lot after installing the latest version of the display driver, the ‘magnifying glass’ button will not function properly…so which version does actually support this the button?

We’ll forgive you for using Office… this time. 

AFAIK, just v14 and 14.1 (latest) of the Intel video driver kills the magnify button. It’s probably worth trying out 14.1 to see if it fixes the problem and revert back to the old version if it doesn’t.

What a shame….I have tried to upgrade my display driver to the latest one, i.e. 14.1 and apparently it doesn’t fix the problem….  :(

as an engineer I use excel a lot too :wink:
I have not my TR here to test long y-axis titles now,
but with short ones it works well.

Finally I found an Engineer who use Excel to plot chart in this forum….  :wink:
May I know what version of Excel are you using?
And also, can you please try a longer Y-axis title on your Excel’s chart with your TR?

Patrick, I tested this morning: excel truncates y-axis long titles.
No way to overcome this problem changing font type or or size
but everthing is fine on print preview.

Hmmmm…. :(  so sad to hear that from you…but anyway thanks for letting me know you are having the same problem too. At least I’m not alone….  In fact I have downloaded the up to date patches for my Excel from Microsoft but it still doesn’t fix this problem… :(
