Just wondering if there is any TR3 owners who is kind enough to share his/her InterVideo WinDVD 5 for VAIO software since only TR3 has this software.  There is nothing wrong with my WinDVD 4 but if possible, I would like to have the latest software for my DVD playback

hmm, that’s weird.  only TR3A USDM has Intervideo Windvd 5, the rest of the TR lineup, TR1 and TR2, use intervideo windvd 4

but anyway, if anyone kind enough to share this, i really appreciate it.

Sorry to nitpick here but what you’re asking here isn’t technically “legal”. If you do find someone to help you out then please conduct that offline and not on this board. I don’t want Sony to force me to shut down this site because people are sharing software. Drivers is one thing but software is another.

You may also want to actually consider purchasing the upgrade if you really want to have it. It’s around $40-50 (depending on the version that you want). I do have WinDVD 5 Platinum (which i bought) and I can honestly tell you that it really doesn’t give you much more over 5 unless you need DVD-Audio support, more audio support (i.e. Dolby II, DTS, SRS, etc.), some other not necessarily useful features, and supposed better support for Centrino notebooks.

As far as I can tell, the only interesting thing is the last new feature. As far as I can tell, it adds some new power profiles to your system which can take over for Power Panel when a DVD is running. Also, it supposedly caches the DVD content for less DVD access theoretically saving battery life.

I’d just like them to fix the zoom so I can watch non-anamorphic wide-screen movies properly. 

Hey, stop trying to get InterVideo WinDVD, check out instead VLC (VideoLan media Player) @ http://www.videolan.org/vlc/  It’s free of charge & open source.  It’s better, firstly cause it’s free, but secondly, cause it doesn’t have any of the restrictions inherent in WinDVD, and it has a lot more options, like being able to play Files instead of DVD (I copy my DVD to HD using SmartRipper to save battery life, [not having to keep reading from DVD]) as well as selecting different play styles.

WinDVD can play files (aka DVD on HD) as well….well, version 5.0 can. Still, VLC is also recommended as it’s lighter on resources and has some neat skins.
