I have put a ssd kingspec 128gb zif 40 pins in my tr3a . I’ve solder a flex zif connector on the pata 44 pins connector of tr3:t was very difficult.
My impressions : it’s difficult to reinstall the xp os, difficult to make partitions, the power comsumption is equal as hard drive, less heat and no noise. The laptop is more fast to start: 30s, the software are more quickly installed, and generally all are more fats but sometimes the os freeze and i don’t know why: perhaps incompatibily of the os, deafult in the ssd driver, or not good soldering in my home-made connector.
Last week my laptop freeze again and I can repair it, I think it’s the connector , I ummount it and I consider to make a very good flex circuit connector by industrial, if you are interested please mail me.
