I just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to sell my X505. This model has the carbon fiber lid. I have swapped the keyboard for an English one, upgraded the CPU to 1.1 GHz, and upgraded the HDD to a 32 GB SSD drive.

The following items are included in the sale:

2. Second Vaio X505 (US Model) with missing screen - great for spare parts.
3. Original 20 GB HDD (you get 2 of these, one with the broken Vaio)
4. 30 GB Toshiba HDD that fits the X505
5. DDDRW2 External DVD-RW drive
6. Original Case for the X505 as well as the accessories case
7. Original VGA/LAN adapter
8. Original WiFi card
9. Original USB Memory Stick Optical Mouse
10. Sony screw drivers to take units apart (2 of them)
11. Sony SMU-WM10 Wireless Optical Mouse

I have the original box, Restore CD/DVD, etc. You will get two Windows Keys (one with each X).

Anything less then $1,000, I’m going to keep it, so please no lowballs.

It is in excellent physical condition, small paint chips on mouse buttons which are replaceable. No major scratches, dents, cracks, etc. Easily 9/10.

I’ve had quiet the response to this posting.

Also, I did a test last week (against my new notebook), here are the results:

Sony X505 (XP)
Boot (from off) - 22 seconds
Shut Down - 59 seconds
Hibernate - 12 seconds
Resume (from hibernation) - 11 seconds

Standby is even faster, but I don’t think it’s very reliable so I don’t use it.

There are two batteries included, one is OEM Sony, the other is aftermarket. Both hold a charge.

Things of note:

1. The oem charger doesn’t seem to charge the notebook completely, so I bought the secondary one. That charges it fine.

2. I have a second battery (not pictured), not OEM.

3. (2) 20 GB drives, (1) 30 GB Drive, (1) 32 GB SSD Drive, (1) 40 GB Drive (Doesn’t fix X505, but I’m including it anyway).

4. SSD is installed, the lid you saw needed to be removed prior to install, but I’m including it.

5. All boxes, restore DVDs, etc.

6. Second notebook is dissasembled. I have the screws in a bag (pictured).

7. Second notebook works. You can connect power (or battery) and VGA/Ethernet to use it.

8. There is a rubber piece missing from the good notebook (pictured) but the part is on the one that missing the screen. You can pull it and re-attach it to the good notebook if desired. I’ve just been lazy.

9. Both notebooks have a small chip in the mouse buttons, this part can be replaced. (pictured)
