Just a quick Question,  can anyone recommend a usb to Serial port adaptor. The reason why I’m asking I brought some USB stuff for my old laptop & some of the Drivers gave me Problems,

I use this one, and I like it a lot…no issues whatsoever.

You can pick up an older version and save some money. Mine was designed for a palm PDA but works with all serial devices that i’ve tried.

This is very interesting to me since my TR2 was unable to get the Keyspan unit to recognize my Garmin StreetPilot III.

I called Keyspan corporate offices and was told that there were problems with the TR2’s USB 2.0 and their product. I was also told that they were in the process of writing a fix to the driver.

Have you ever tried your USB to serial adapter with any Garmin GPS product?

I picked up a Belkin adapter at Best Buy - plug and play, no problem.

This is what I use. It works with my Garmin eTrex Vista on a Sony Vaio SRX99. I did have an installation issue to get the software to work. IO Gear tech support had to run me through a quick procedure to get it working.

I did email Garmin about 18 months ago about making a data cable that uses USB. They said they were thinking about it.

No, I have GPS built into my car, but I was able to use the Keyspan for 2 other serial devices without issue on my TR. Are you using home or pro?
