I’ve just bought a ZIF to IDE adapter on a whim but now I’m not sure it will work! lol

1.8” ZIF to IDE

I think its a 50 pin one…

I have the Toshiba drive in the laptop currently.

I doubt if the adapter and zif disk will fit in the holding bracket :-o

Saw your other post about the MK4006gah. I ripped out a MK4004gah out of an old mp3 player to replace the failing drive in my TR and it was the right size.

I recieved the adapter and took the HDD out of my iPod just to test it with.

You’re right it doesn’t fit in the bracket with the adapter etc.

It can be squeezed into place but havn’t tried this yet.

The drive worked fine straight away and was recognised fully by the laptop.

Will be buying a ZIF drive off ebay soon to replace the drive before I take the laptop to Australia (don’t want the thing failing on me while there!).

Hi,

Connector + SSD won’t fit into HDD rack, but if you modify or remove the rack, you can easily fix that problem. My friend successfully installed 32G SSD with that connector into his TR.
