I noticed somebody on Ebay selling an sp saying 5000 existing in production..
does that include the cp models too? Does anybody have any stats on this stuff? I know these two models are the two premium carbon fiber ones and the cp has an improved carbon construction process and an updated cpu compared to the sp, so maybe it is even more scarce…

I’m not too sure anyone has those figures.  5000 sounds like a lot to me. 

I currently own both the Glossy CF version and the US non-CF version of the X505.

The US model has the 1.1 gHz processor and the Japanese model has the 1.0 gHz model.

The 5000 number was posted on this forum somewhere. Does not sound like a lot to me (this is Sony & consumer product after all)
Supposedly just 505 Aluminum briefcases were made.

If 5000 CP/SP were made, I would assume 50-100k of “regular” X505?
Still extremely small number for a laptop (& for Sony).

They were, after all, sold worldwide.
