Anyone know of a device tat can plug in to the computer via USB and be hooked up to component or a hdmi cable?  I want to send a signal from my computer (via USB) to my plasma (via HDMI or Component(Red,GreenBlue))

I’d plug the usb into my computer, then a DVI adapter converting to VGA (a small dongle that came with an old video card) then a VGA cable to the VGA input on my 43” Pio Plasma.  Think this device is powerful enoughfor that?

I’m not experienced with these PC cards, I’m not sure how good it would work.  My desktop only has 2 usb ports though, so the PC card would be ideal as I would never have to touch it (since I have no cards to use).  Anyone have any input?

Desktop or laptop? Desktop typically don’t have PCMCIA ports.

What size TV and what resolution does it have (the picture might look terrible at low resolution)?

See all the video content I have on this desktop such as photos, movies etc I’d like to watch on the big screen, the problem is this desktop is not equipped with a dedicated port to send the video signals out, that’s why I’m looking at these alternatives

I don’t see the specs for the PCMCIA card as far as output resolution, but the USB one has a matching resolution to your TV. I’m 99% sure the PCMCIA one would work too as the resolution is pretty standard. At that point you just need to decide which is better for your. If you don’t plan on using the PCMCIA slot for anything else, then getting that one is a good idea, however, the USB one would be far more versatile as it would work with any new desktop or laptop.

If your worried about the resolution on the PCMCIA card, just send them an email with your TVs resolution and ask if it can output at that same one.

I spoke to the maufacturer and they recomended the usb one, it’s cheaper and better were there words(and can be moved to different computers as you pointed out).  I’m going to order it in a few days, have to get organized first. I’ll post a little write up about it once I get it.  Thanks for the help, it’s much appreciated.
