Can someone advise as to why this is happening ?

I have two AC/DC chargers one from an old 505 serious which works great however the supplied charger for the TR does not charge the battery and I hear this squealing sound come from the battery.

Could it be the battery or the charger ?

Here’s my battery info : which is 3 years old and retains around 70% charge

i had the same, when inserting the damaged PSU my motherboard launched out a continuous sound like yours. so, have a look for a warm spot at your cable.

for further questions, don`t hesitate…!

Thanks for that I’ll check for a so called ‘warm spot’.

So you think replacing the cable will do the trick ?

That’s why I guess you’ve the same error within your cable. Sounds too similar. Check both cables, for one it’s easy just replace it (e.g. your kitchen radio has the same). My TR doesn’t start at last, just showing up green power-LED for half a second. Plug off and on while pressing power button and previous moving the cable solved this issue, but touching the cable again my TR shuts down immediately… Sounds horrible, right! :-( But now, everything’s fine again!
