Sorry for no update just real life in the way at the moment and it’s not something I can spend 5 mins on I need to have time to work out the best way to mount it. Was planning on using the original fan as it seems fine and is pretty quiet when on.

I have tried a temp apps but they don’t seem to report cpu temp. they give hdd temp and one gave a reported cpu temp but it remained constant so I don’t think it was reporting anything.

if anyone knows of a app that will report cpu temps I’ll do a before & after.

It seems a lot of the heat is from the HDD, as soon as the silly prices fall I’ll try a 32gb SSD drive but not at current cost !! Can’t justify it because a £300 32gb SSD now will likely be worth under £100 in less than a year…

Hi. I was using NHC (Notebook hardware control) some time ago and it seemed to read the CPU & HDD temperature. You should try that.

I also believe that most of the heat comes right from the hdd. Some time ago I realised that my TR is pretty warm on the bottom case. It wasnt so warm when it was new. Could hardly place the TR on my legs to work with it. I thought it was a defective fan causing the heat. But when I opened up my TR I realised that most of the heat came from the toshiba HDD. According to NHC the HDD used to be 60 degrees Celsius and more what makes it run out of Toshiba specs.
