Ok i have officially had it with this lemon laptop. I have a TX750p/B and since yesterday i have noticed that the battery is not being charged through the AC adapter. I ran the laptop Just on the battery and it works fine, but when i take the battery out and connect the laptop via the AC adapter, it does not boot up at all…nothing happens.

    Second issue: I keep getting a message that “the DVDrw drive needs to shutoff” and would i like to do this?. I press ‘NO’ every time but then it pops up again after a few minutes.

    Can anyone explain these issues. Im not very technical. what can the the first issue be due to and what can be done to fix this problem immediately. Is this a motherboard problem or can this be some loose connector/cable that attches the AC jack to the motherboard.  My laptop is basically in great condiiton. I have replaced the screen due to a personal (i think) error.

    If anyone has faced the same or similar problems, i would appreciate any advice. As always, thanks all for any and every help. Cheers.

This happens when you change from mains to battery power.  If you dig into your power settings you’ll find options to decide what happens when running off the different power sources.  Off battery the optical drive is normally turned off to save power, but in case you want to use it, it double checks with you before doing it (as you’d noticed!).  So, as you say you always select no, if you just change the power setting to not turn off the optical drive you won’t get the message any more.

Hey thanks for the answer. Ill check the power management and uncheck that mysterious box. Its actually a pretty nice option, noe tht i know its suppose to do that. . Do you have any idea how i can fix the first problem. Thankyou again.

My TXN17 also doesn’t work without the battery. I guess it was designed to work that way. It never occurred to me to try to use it with only AC power. Why do you want to do that?
