Hotkeys…..........I actually never used them, so don’t know what they are.
Fn Keys…..........Brightness works, Volume brings up the menu, but doesn’t actually adjust the volume, you need to use the speaker icon in the tray.

I got the volume and brightness to work as they did in XP. Basically, I installed the “Sony® Programmable I/O Control Device”, the “Sony® Notebook Control Device Driver”, the “Sony® Shared Library”, and the SoundMax driver from the support website, then rebooted. After coming back up, I installed the “Sony® Notebook Utilities” and rebooted. I went to the “Programs and Features” control panel and uninstalled “Power Panel”. It doesn’t work under vista, and just gives annoying error messages. (If you need the vaio-specific features, I think that the vista TR5 util at the UK sony site will work.) Then I went to c:\program files\sony\hotkey utility and set “HKServ.exe” and “HKWnd.exe” to operate in XP compatibility mode with admin privs. That did it.

So far, the capture and zoom keys don’t work (although the input from the zoom key is acknowledged), and neither does the camera. I’m still working on that.[/url]

Thanks for the great tip. Compatibility mode and the administrator privileges is what did it for me. Finally, sound control is working as intended.
Hope, you’ll find your way to get the camera working too.

I’ve just got vista, but i’m struggling to find the right driver to get the full screen width. Did anyone else have problems with this? Where did you guys get the driver from?

With the hotkeys, I ended up installing all the original drivers and utilities from the recovery disk rather than the updated drivers, running them all with compatibility mode and administrator rights.

I have managed to get brightness working and volume (after i set hkserv.exe amd hkwnd.exe to compatibility mode. Bass boost, zoom and eject finally work too.

This is all on a T-Series by the way, a T250

My question is has anyone managed to get the fn+f7 (external display function key) working? Also my dvd button, when I select the “Do not use as DVD button” option in Vaio Control Center, the button will ONLY set the display to Max Brightness, regardless of what secondary function is chosen.

Anyone have similar problems? Anyone got a fix?

pikey7: make sure you install your graphics driver. Search for your model’s graphics driver at http://esupport.sony.com and install it, then restart. This should work on a T / TX and maybe even a TR but I can’t guarantee it: ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/INDVID-00770905-US.EXE
