I got a quistion   ..

If we bought 2 of 1GB Ram like this one :

Could we have a TR with 2GB of RAM !!!  :?:

Yes! although sony states max is 1gb the tr motherboard actually supports 2gb!

If someone with a states made TR tries this and it works, PLEASE post it here because if it does, I will be buying

Any experiences ?

Would there be any point over 1gb, I mean surely tr’s are mostly cpu / bus limited at 1gb??

I wonder the same thing Blade, but who knows.

Q80 - in your other post, you show that in fact, we can upgrade to 2GB. I take it that you bought and have now installed 2GBs of RAM?

Well I’d try too but at nearly the cost of a working used TR it’s beyond my justifcation even if it did improve things a bit :?

The sound-device is reconiced as AC97. The driver seems to work but there is no sound out of the speakers. When a headphone is conneced, there is a minimun of noise and it is obvious that there is something…but unfortunatly not loud enough to be usefull.

+ PLUS I asked some of those ram sellers and they guaranteed that the 2GB RAMs will work on TR !!

So then the theory that said TR’s Ram limited in 1GB failed  

and I’ll buy the 2GB soon , hopefully .

The price of that module at memoryx seems excessive…

I had 1.5GB in my TR.

The beauty of running a lot of ram is that you can turn off the swap file.

This has many benefits.
Obviously the disk gets used a lot less…
So, less wear and tear,
longer battery life,
less heat!
less noise,
less pauses whilst windoze swaps stuff about when you are multitasking
So therefor it’s faster too. (you do notice it)

Very, very occasionally, i would come close to filling the RAM, but it was only when really working the thing hard with lots of apps open.  And you can allways turn on a pagefile on the fly with xp if needed… and just turn it off later at a re-boot.

All laptops should be run with the full ram capacity i reckon.

Shame my TR has now died.
