Q80 - in your other post, you show that in fact, we can upgrade to 2GB. I take it that you bought and have now installed 2GBs of RAM?
I didn’t bought and installed them yet .. but ” Sweety ” did ! :
[quote author=“Sweety”]Hi,
today I got my hands on a final of Windows Vista - English Version.
I installed it on my TR5MP with 1.5 GB Ram and it went through the installation without Problems.
So far I can say: - it runs
- Sound is a problem
- there is a problem with shutdown
I will try the windows-xp driver from sony and report here.
The sound-device is reconiced as AC97. The driver seems to work but there is no sound out of the speakers. When a headphone is conneced, there is a minimun of noise and it is obvious that there is something…but unfortunatly not loud enough to be usefull.
Try it and report your experiences here in the forum.
Cu!
So he said that he installed 1.5 GB Ram ! Then :
[quote author=“rahulnirmal2000”]I thought the TRs could only accept 1 gig of ram max?
gr00vy0ne answered him
[quote author=“gr00vy0ne”]Nope, the TR can take up to 2GB of DRAM since that’s what the chipset officially supports. Sony only made the 1GB designation because at the time, 1GB uDIMMs did not exist on the market so the highest configuration you could get was 512MB x 2 = 1GB.

+ PLUS [quote author=“alfogator”]I ordered these modules from swissbit web shop:
1GB MicroDIMM DDR266 PC2100 172 Pin
price was 280.50 € including shipping. Web site said out of stock but I received it after a couple of weeks.
Installed without trouble and works flawlessly, now I have 1.5 GB of ram on my happy TR1 (1 GB + 512 MB).

+ PLUS I asked some of those ram sellers and they guaranteed that the 2GB RAMs will work on TR !!
So then the theory that said TR’s Ram limited in 1GB failed
and I’ll buy the 2GB soon , hopefully .
