Hello, I am new to this message board. 

Being disappointed with the ultraportable tank that is the G1, I thought to add memory to my x505.  It seemed a terribly delicate operation, so I had never tried it all these years, despite the web sites hawking the stuff, which all do seem to say the x505 has a slot with 512 MB which can be replaced with 1GB.  I gather this is mistaken; I have opened my machine (all 13 screws, Phillips and triwing) and I don’t see much that looks like memory at all, which can be removed.  But I thought I would ask if any of the experts here knew better, since one would think these vendors would know, before I tried to put the machine back together.

Hi Eric -

The X505’s RAM is soldered to the motherboard.  It cannot be updated.
