I’m thinking of selling my handy (beloved) subnotebook Sony Vaio U101.

I guess everyone here knows the specs, but in case of :

- OS : Windows XP PRO Service Pack 2 (vista is currently installed and running smoothly but not activated, will be shipped with original recovery disks, fresh install of xp sp2 or vista installed)
- CPU : Banias core 600A
- RAM : upgraded to a single 512mb micro DDR
- GPU : Ati Mobility Radeon (16mb integrated memory)
- Screen size : 7.1 inches !
- Keyboard : Qwerty with integrated trackpoint
- HD : 30GB (Ultra ATA/100)
- USB : 2x USB 2.0
- Integrated Card reader : MS / MS PRO / MS PRO DUO (M2 with adapter)
- PCMCIA slot
- Wireless : Wifi 802.11b
- I.Link : IEEE 1394 S400
- Ethernet : 10/100mb/s
- Battery : At least 1H30 with full backlight and wireless on
- Weight : 800gr.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, here are my favorite pictures (freshly made) of my lovely U101

As you can see, U101 is still in really good shape. There are two small scratches on the battery (like nearly all U101) but theses are hardly noticable. I still have all the boxes, original papers and invoice. Everything in excellent condition.

For the price (I’m located in Belgium, but I can send carefuly worldwide using UPS after payment)

- Boxed U101 upgraded to 512 : Only 799€
- Neoprene Case : 20€
- DVD Reader / CD Burner Sony I.LINK in mint state (not even a small scratch on it) : Only 89€

How much is that in American dollars?

Regarding current Dollar rate, you have to increase the € price by something around 20% to have the price in $

Which means :

Boxed Vaio U101 (512mb) : ~ 1050$
Neoprene Case : ~24$
Sony ILink DVD/CD-RW : ~110$

It looks like I have a serious option in Belgium for the U101 but I won’t label it as sold until it really is.

does everything on your u101 work in vista? like screen rotate, zoom etc?

Yupp, I used the drivers on the recovery disk 3 in the right order and under full administrator mode in XP. The only thing that doesn’t work well is the brightness button on the middle of the U101.

I used a custom version of Vista Ultimate (vlited) so I removed a lot of unwanted protection tools that could prevent a sucessful installation of the driver (and I really slim it down by the way)

U101 is really impressive. Glass effect on the windows is working by default :shock: (that little Radeon rules !)

Last price drop before ebay auction : 512mb U101 for only 749€ with free neoprene case

I compiled it myself using my retail copy of vista ultimate and the excellent vlite tool.

It’s similar to nlite, it will allow you to remove everything you don’t need and create a new dvd with your custom version of xp / vista
