hi does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the processor on a vaio c1 picturebook? i am llooking to upgrade from a transmeta crusoe to a 1-1.1 pentium m

i hardly doubt it, unless you want to operate surgery on a uxp series vaio and see if you can somehow get that motherboard in the c1, still it will probably be as expensive as getting the lastest from sony!

It’s practically impossible.  Even if you could get your hands on a compatible chip, and even if the existing cooling solution was satisfactory, you would need some serious equipment to desolder and remove the existing chip and replace it with a new one.

i read about mandychao upgraded his vaio tr and u101 though using an smt machine,- do you think he could upgrade it with a banias chip if i sent it to him? or is the c1 simply not compatible with anything but the transmeta?
