Can anyone tell me, if you buy the academic version of MS office 2007 pro, can you install it on more than one computer? IE pc and laptop?

I’ve searched through the site and can’t seem to find any information about it. Generally the rule of thumb is only one activation (unlimited installs), however without activation you can only use it for a trial period. That being said, I would send an email to Microsoft to ask them since they may actually allow you to install it on two machines for students.

It’s my understanding that the Office 2007 Home and Student version allows for up to 3 installs and is non-upgradeable (to the next version). That should be fine for most people since the next version of office is likey another 3-4 years away (if even that).

It is not the student edition that i wanted I wanted to buy the office professional academic edition.

Forgive me…I misread the post. I’ll have to find the link but I’m almost certain you’re allowed at least two installs. I believe the exact rule is that the product may be installed on one primary device and one mobile device for use by the primary user as long as it’s not used simultaneously (it’s doesn’t check..aka…honor system).

I have the “Enterprise” version that came with my Partner subscription…I’ll see what the EULA says in that one later tonight.

I don’t expect the academic version to be any different other than the fact you can’t resell it since it’s an academic version.

Just to let you al know. Microsfot have replied to my question, you can install the academic version on both a desktop and a laptop.
So if anybody out there is considering buying Office Professional 2007, if you can, buy the academic version in the uk this will be available from next week for around £138, a fraction of the normal price.
To qualify you need to either be in education or have children in education.
