From what I’ve seen of it, its the same dimensions as the TX, same screen size. But it has a Core Duo 1.66 ghz processor instead of the 1.2 and 1.3 ghz Pentium Ms in the TXs and a 2.5” hard drive instead of 1.8” in the TX.

Only thing the TX has that the S6F doesn’t is instant playback and plus the Asus is about the same price as the TX, around $2400.

I’ll assume you guys will have plenty of bad things to say about it considering this is a Sony site.

ASUS makes good notebooks but I suspect this isn’t the notebook for you if you require longer “on battery” time. ASUS doesn’t optimize for power like how Sony does. Also, this model uses a Core Duo 1.66GHz which is neither a Low Voltage (LV) or Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) chip. The TX uses ULV chips (and the LED based screen) for the absolute best low power consumption. So, if battery is an issue for you then the TX is likely a far better choice. If it isn’t and more performance is then the ASUS is probably the better choice. Diff’rent Strokes for Different Folks.

I’ve seen a few reviews of it and all of em have said it doesn’t have a firewire port, yet I went to their site where a firewire port is listed in the specs and a picture of the back of the notebook is given with the port in full view.

I’ll finally say that CNET are a bunch of notebook reviewing morons, they give it a 9 out of 10 yet couldn’t even get a battery life estimate.
I’m pretty sure the TX will get better battery life though but I am shocked at them fitting a dual core CPU in that small a case. Don’t like that they had to kill cows to make the notebooks, even if I’m not a tree hugger and eat my fair share of beef.  :?

Dang it, why the heck am I even talking about this notebook, wasting my time when there’s no way in heck I can even afford it!!! Unless I sell one of my kidneys. How much does a good condition kidney of a 19 year old go for?  :wink:

How about a 12” widescreen that has a dual core 1.83 Ghz CPU and 256 MB Geforce 7400 GPU? How about a 100 Gig 5400 RPM HD instead of a whimpy 4200 RPM HD? Am I dreaming? If I am somebody slap me; Dell might have this available this month. And I was just about to buy a SZ140…think I’ll hold off awhile longer if stuff like this is possible; who knows what will appear by the end of this month.

As far as I’m concerned for me low battery life is less of an issue with those specs…

Also, the processor is LV (Low Voltage). Would there be a way to disable one of the cores and underclock and undervolt it to somewhat of a ULV chip to get more battery life? 

I dunno why this Asus S6F isnt more popular than it is now.  :(
