Although the temp readings are quite warm, the unit doesn’t get very hot all at - its hardly discernable unless you’re really pushing it with 3d graphics or something.

Fan noise- well it is louder than my TR1mp was, and possibly my T1XP, and it’s on and off all the time, but at least the sound is of rushing air, rather than the annoying whine the original S series suffered from. Put it this way, I really got fed up with my S series, and Apple iMacs for their whiny fans, so I’m a bit of a stickler for them - my TX does not appear to bother me at all, even in a quiet room

does somebody help me disassemble my tx?  i am unable to locate the last “screw under the keyboard”?  do i need to remove a key or something?  please help.

Thanks to all who posted in this thread. I have been agonizing over whether to buy a new TX or just uprgade my T160. All the posts about the noisy TX have convinced me to wait. This is the kind of info you can’t get in the show room or a spec sheet. The T is whisper quiet and has been the perfect business laptop for me for several years mainly because of its size. Now if I can just get a little more info on tearing down the T160, I’ll be ready to perform my hard drive and keyboard upgrades.
