modifying the x505

If i can get the whole middle mouse button thing sorted out, so i can middle click links in firefox, im thinking of modding my x505. I want to put a high rpm large capacity 2.5 inch drive and also some speakers somewhere on the bottom of it so i can actaully listen to music on it. THough it doesnt seem to sound very good even through headphones. I also possibly want to try to build a quad capacity battery. what do you guys think? anyone have a broken 505 they would give me cheap?

2.5 inches will never fit into a X505…

Why would you bother putting speakers into the x505 ?! You can buy wonderful external speakers if you wish to that can be attached…

My rationalle:

-in a public space you do not listen to music only through headphones
-athome you can use the external speakers
-the rest: there is no rest smile

I never ceased to be amazed by people who think there is room to spare in the X505.

Anh Nguyen (ngvuanh on this forum) posted the following thread with instruction and pictures for disassembling the X505.

 

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words .. and his thread speaks for itself.

There is simply no room to put anything else inside the X505.

So far you can put 2 credit cards in the PCMCIA slot.  Other than that it’s cool to stare the X505.  LOL
