I am seriously considering buying a Vaio VGN-TX750P with a cracked screen and of course having it replaced.

I looked around for the screen part number and I’m quite sure it is A1154928A
and found a link where it is being sold here.

That price actually sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Because I saw LCDs4less.com selling the LCD for the Vaio T series for example for at least $300.

I live in Houston and would like a local shop to replace the screen for me. What would be a good place to go, how much would they charge and how long would it take?

I hear you can do it yourself but ever since I somehow killed my Fujitsu Lifebook P5020D merely by taking out the hard drive, I am deathly afraid of tinkering inside any electronics.

I am also worried that a repair shop would have quite a difficult time installing the screen due to the TX having a much thinner, different screen than most laptops.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

Be carefull. It is top cover with VAIO logo embedded. It is NOT LCD panel.

I have replaced a couple of screens.  It is actually really easy.  The screens are expensive, however, unless you have a bus. license.  With one, they are about $450 from sparepartswarehouse, otherwise they are about $600 from there.  You are also required to pay $500 until you return the old cracked screen, which is required by Sony.

There are two screws under the pads at the bottom of the screen.  Then the bezel is just snapfit on, starting from the bottom.

But that price, $176.71 sounds too good to be true no? I saw on Ebay a Vaio TX screen by Toshiba going for about $500-600.

I looked around and found that the part number for a TX screen is A1154928A, so I hope that link I provided is the real screen.

Is there an illustrated guide on how to replace the screen, because I’m a total newbie but give me detailed instructions perferably with pictures and I’ll be able to do it.

Anyone know if the prices for the TX LCD will drop in the few months? What is the typical price of the LCD? Where can I find the lowest prices?

Did you have any luck finding the screen - I need a new one for my TR3AP.
