[quote author=“mandychao”]hello every body,if you wnat to buy dothan 1.2g chip,i can post on ebay and pay by paypal,is anyone interesting?? :?:
hey I’m interested. but I can’t do paypal. can you take wire transfer (bank) instead? western union will be alright with me too. or postal money order, other payment methods you take?
and if you’re able to find in Taiwan, I’d also very much like to acquire a Transmeta Efficeon TM8820 chip (the 1.0-1.4GHz 21mm X 21mm) and a ULi 1563M Southbridge chip for engineer sample. I’ll pay for these as well if you’re able to obtain.
These are surface mount chips in a ball grid array that are mounted directly to a board. Hence the machine mandy is referring to is a Surface Mount Technology machine. Unless you have access to some manufacturing facility, than not to too likely to be able to swap it out!

Edit: I have just found out that sony used a pentium 2 in one of their picturebooks, would this e possible to upgrade?
I’m confused, I thought the Pentium M ULV chips couldn’t be upgraded? What, you can really just pull one out and put an upgraded one in? For example, I could put a PM 773 (1.3 ghz) in a Vaio TR for example?

You can’t it uses a different type of packaging. It’s not a drop-in chip and is soldered to the motherboard.
