It’s not sold in the US (officially) but it’s one of the better cases for the TR.

PCGA-CK5T Update:

I just tried my recently arrived PCGA-BP3T (extended capacity battery) in the PCGA-CK5T and it’s a very tight fit and probably not recommended as it stretches out the case. People who use the extended battery exclusively should buy the cheaper slip case or a larger case.

eBay or import places like iCube , Dynamism , or Kemplar . This product is not officially available in the US market.

How “hard” is “semi-hard” anyway?  I have the Vaio slip case of the same color and material.  It’s basically just a neoprene sleeve.  Is there extra padding on the CK5T?

That’s a similar case but for the SRX series Sony notebooks. It’s about the same width but it’s deeper. This case would probably fit the Sony TR but it would be loose…unless you have the extended battery installed.

I am hearing you   We mostly stock our CK5T buy having my associate in Japan special order directly through Sony Japan.  Therefore, the price is quite a bit higher.  You can see that we almost always have stock (about 10-15 units per shipment to us).

Hello all!  I just received my TR2AP from NewEgg a few days ago, so now I’m in the process of finding a sleeve case for it.  I personally don’t like the color of the PCGA-CK5T all that much, but the semi-rigid siding is attractive.  I do have a two questions, though.

First, how rigid is “semi-rigid”?  I.E., is the case rigid enough to hold its shape when held in your hands by its edge?  I’d rather as much pressure/impact as possible be borne by the case than the TR body.

Second, the zipper: is it possible for any part of the zipper to come into contact with the TR?  If I were to stuff it into my day pack with things pressing against the sides of the sleeve case, is it possible to scuff the TR paint?

Yes, the case is rigid enough so that it holds its shape when you hold in on one end. However, it’s not so rigid that you couldn’t bend it without a reasonable amount of force. It is well padded. The zipper is about 1/4” away from the system on all sides.

There is sufficient padding along the edges of the zipper to keep the zipper from making contact with the TR. I won’t rule out completely that it won’t touch the TR but I find it unlikely to scratch even in a fully loaded bag.

Get BOTH! One for each situation(s) that you might be in…. 

Both is a good idea. I did just that and use them in different situations.

I purchased my PCGA-CK5T on Ebay through a “Buy It Now” transaction. It cost me $79.99 shipped.  It was sent from Japan (not available in US). I was just too lazy to wait until my next trip to Japan.  I like the case but I do find myself using the WaterField sleeve more often.

Got my slip case from the sony shop in the meadowhall shopping centre uk…

At £45 they are a bit expensive though but well worth the money if yoy do a lot of traveling like me…
