My Motion Eye is working perfectly 2.5 years after I got it, but my Network Smart Capture (or something related to it) is messed up. It tells me that I have exceeded the maximum number of pictures and that I need to delete some before I take any more, but there are no pictures saved on it at all. Still works fine as a webcam through AIM, or as a picture taker through other programs. It just doesn’t work properly through the hot-key, which is really a shame. ;_;
P.S. It’s been like that since I got it, but I bought it off Ebay for about $200 under retail and everything else was in perfect condition, so I didn’t bother trying to replace the laptop… that and it’s an imported Japanese laptop with Enlgish Windows XP Home Edition on it, so I couldn’t bring it back to the manufacturer… I still love my laptop, though ^_^
Mine died 2 weeks ago (after almost 3 years of regular use). I was on a video call from Europe when the colors suddenly changed (went purple), then black. Since then, nothing, just black and some occasional noise.
I am planning to open the camera and check the connections. Maybe I will be lucky and learn that the flex cable popped off
thought I’d add my motion eye’s death to the list. My motion eye had the ‘white death’ about a month ago. I’ve owned this TR3AP for almost exactly a year. BUT I had gotten mine through ebay so it had been used a bit longer. R.I.P.
I discovered this site when I was searching for drivers to fix by Motion Eye!
Obviously I’m not the only one to have this problem… :evil:
I have been unable to fix it so far and will probably have to report to Sony - and am out of warranty with my TR5.
I think it lasted for about 2 years but was not used regularly. Otherwise I have had no problems with the laptop, it has been my best PC purchase ever in terms of reliability.
Hi, Count me in, I noticed my motion eye black screening about a week ago, on my TR5 like the previous poster I found this site looking for a fix for my broken camera, mine lasted between 1.5 - 2 years, but I haven’t used it much either, but I don’t think it matters whether it has been used regulary or not. In network capture s/w I just get black screen, even if I shine a bright light into it, I still get black. If I go into My Computer I have a link to my VCC-U01 in video mode, if I click the icon it still open up black screen, but I get intermittent interferance. Also I think it sounds strange that we all seemed to have lost our cams around the same time, maybe it was a windows update that put all our cams out of action. Hope someone finds out the best way to correct them.
All the best psxnut
P.S. I went on e-support 3 days ago, still waiting for sony’s reply.
Hmm I don’t want to jinx myself by saying this, but my TR2’s cam is still quite happily working :shock: 3 years into use. I use it occasionally and never had an issue yet :?
After 2 years and 4 months of frequent camera use, mine “went black” yesterday on my TR3A. Worked fine last week.
I watched it go bad. Started flickering with horizontal lines (like and old B&W television hooked up to an antennea). Got worse until it went totally black. Changing the brightness makes the black turn a light gray, so that tells me that the problem is in the camera.
Losing this camera hurts. I use it a lot for photographing and emailing machine component photos in my line of work.
Here is Sony’s reply after I mentioned that hundreds of people were having the same problem.
