i had a friend can replace the CPU in TR
but i am wonder what can TR be replace?
only the ULV or maybe can use the LV P-M ?
i know some of users replace the 900Mhz to Dothan 1.2G
and work fine now.

i am not sure what the bios can support ?
does any know about the tech. problem ?
if i can handle the heat problem, can i use the 2.0G or higher Frq. CPU ?

TR series use ULV processor and they are soldered to motherboard.
I think you can not upgrade them to LV or higher voltage Pentium M processors because of their supply voltage. 1.3GHz is now latest of ULV series and they are BGA chip, NOT PGA so you have to do the upgrade with BGA rework station. Upgrade procedure require an well experience technician or professional services.

Because processor is BGA chip so it similar almost BGA other chips. If you want to replace it, there are some steps to do:
1. What are you need? A hot air station, try google “hot air 850” you will see what it is. BGA balls to do reball your processor before resolder it to motherboard and solder flux that help you during do the job.
2. Removal: Use hot air to remove chip. It should be very carefull to avoid burning chip, other components around and one important thing is ball pads. If pads is damaged, there no way to recover them.
3. Cleaning chip with solder iron and solder wick to remove all lead out of pads of chip and board.
4. Use approprate ball size to reball chip with hot air and flux.
5. Align chip on the board and re flow it.

yes!the tr i have tried upgrade to p-m lv 1.4g,but the temp is too high,so i think the 1.2g dothan is the best choice!!

I will have to look you up when I visit Taipei.  :D
