[quote author=“bhosty”]This may sound a bit pathetic but…
The orange light that indicates hard disk activity and the audible ‘click’ each time the hard disk is read happen every single second (maybe every 2 seconds) while my TR1S (Thailand version) is on - even when nothing is happening and no programs are running.
I thought it may be the system paging stuff out to the page file so I set Windows not to have a page file - and it still does it. I have no messaging software or other ‘background’ apps running. It would suggest something is being logged, but nothing of that sort is running. Its not a virus afaik - Norton 2004 has no complaints.
Its a small thing, but annoying at night when I leave the PC on and can hear it in the hotel room (plus I have to turn the PC away from the bed to prevent the orange flashing…).
A more real concern is that the hard disk should spin down when not in use, i.e. reading movies from memory stick, but it doesn’t which is a waste of battery. The orange flashing can also be annoying when watching a movie, but its easy to cover up.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this? :?:
Thanks!
Mine does this too, even with 1GB of memory. I suspect it’s some kind of file indexing service like the one that comes with MS Office, but I haven’t had a chance to look into it yet.
