Some advantages would be the following:
- Smaller and more compact
- Largest collection of software (DS + GBA games)
- Longer battery life
- Inherently protected device
- Dual Screen
Note: I have both and love both units but from a game standpoint, the DS is a far more addictive system. The touch screen allows for unique interaction and games that just can’t be replicated on the PSP. Puzzle games like Zoo Keeper and the popular Brain Training games are simplistic but extremely addicting for almost every single person I’ve introduced it to. A game like Lemmings would be perfect on the DS. Speaking of which…
At E3, I saw the PSP version of Lemmings and it had to be the most frustrating experience since you had to move the cursor around with the analog stick. As you know, Lemmings can get hectic at higher levels and having to move the analog stick around at a snail’s pace can be frustrating.
That said, both devices are suited to different types of games. The PSP due to it’s conventional interface only allows for certain types of games. The DS can play most of those same games since it has similar controls…however, due to the extra screen, touch ability and built-in microphone, it adds a bunch of games that the PSP could never play.
