One of our mods/admins over at VaioVillage pointed me over here when I started looking at S and T series models last year…to you guys he’s the VAIOFreak…
I got to TR World through GroovyOne’s post on VAIO Village actually. He posted a link to one of his multiple reviews he had done. And here I am.
I was desperately wanting to do a clean install of windows xp (and also get all the hardware to function properly), so I looked around on google and found this site.
Great topic! I’ve often wondered how many of you arrived here. Although we’re still a small forum, I like to think we’ve helped a lot of people and attracted a really great core group of forum members. Thanks to everyone for making this site what it is.

you mods and experts really helped alot. Just by the upgrading bluetooth part for the TR…HELPED A LOT OF PEOPLE.
I also google sony tr forums, so I got here. AS much as I love the TR, in reality, its getting obsoleted. :?
I seem to remember going to Vaio Village a long time ago looking for info about clean-installing my TR and finding the now-defunct Yahoo! Group about the TR. I’m pretty sure I found a link here from there.

Yes and no. It really depends on the software that you run. A system is really only obsolete when it no longer runs the software you need to run or it doesn’t work optimally with new devices.
When Vista is released and “Vista-designed” laptops come out then you’ll probably really see the TR/T/TX/etc. show their age. At any rate, the TR will make a great backup system or traveling system.
I think I was Googling around looking for reviews of sub 13” laptops as I was thinking of splashing out on one. I just kept coming back to this site to look things up even before deciding to get a TR.
Oh, and my TR is still my daily work machine. I have no need of anything better at the moment and its pearly whiteness is still getting ‘Oooh’s and ‘Ahhh’s when I bring it out 8)
I found the site after Googling for Sony TR1 laptops and found gr00vy’s review. I lurked around the site for a few months and finally registered. Here’s a link to my first post which shows the site at the time had 172 registered users…How time flies and thanks again gr00vy!
