I will hopefully get my hands on one and see what’s new… I definitely love the new look, very nice design.
I am also interested in the new Locationfree software (LFA-PC20) that’s bundled with the bases. I am sure it has a better GUI, more features.

very slick looking new unit. There’s two chances we’re ever getting it here in Oz though…..nil and *$%*-all

no prob. I’ve picked up 2 x base stations and a LF-X5 off ebay at good prices.  Works fine in Oz. Very happy.

Hi everyone! This is my firs posting here and I hope somebody will come through for me.

I just bought myself an LF-X1 from ebay and was excited to get it started. But the dealer didn’t supply a copy of the software or drivers, and upon speaking with him, he didn’t think it was needed to make the unit run.

Can anyone here provide a link or suggest a way that I can get my hands on the software (LFAPC1, I believe)? I’ve just recently bought the unit, so I don’t want to have to play full-price for the software.

Please reply with suggestions. Much appreciated!

I have the LF-X5 which has the same docs as your unit. There isn’t a drivers disc. Check the Quick Start sheet. Also, check the Sony site for firmware update.
You have to buy LFA-PC2 (or LFAPC1) to run laptops etc. off it besides the portable screen. At this time, no support for the psp.

However, I have followed the Quick Start Sheet as you suggested, but my monitor doesn’t seem to be communicating with the base station. Both seem to be in working order; the monitor connects fine with my wireless router (I can surf the net), the ‘internet’ light on the base station is turned on, and the ‘wireless’ light flashes on and off intermittently. I have connected my cable coax in the UHF/VHF input on the back of the base station, yet nothing is transmitting to my monitor.

The ‘BASE’ icon (on the top bar of the screen) has a slash running through, which I realize, means that my monitor and base are incommunicado.

I have gone into Settings > Monitor > and set it to Home/Wireless, but still, nothing happens. I feel like I have tried everything (including initialization) and nothing seems to work.

I may try to call Sony for help, but their hours of operation conflicts with my hours at work and I am uncertain if they will help someone who purchased their product through a non-certified seller. I don’t know what else I can do to make this thing work, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Test the AV cables and use either of the 2 inputs with a dvd player or the like rather than the UHF/vhf for now (u have to have correct channel tuned like on old vcr connections to TVs.

After months of owning an LF-X1, I still have not been able to get it working. It was purchased from a nearby ebay seller who lured me into making the transaction outside of the ebay realm.

After much frustration, and tinkering with suggestions from this site (thanks Teddo), I called Sony’s Locationfree TV help line, who told me how the base unit and monitor must be paired. That is, they must have matching serial numbers, which my units do not have.

The Sony operator diminished all my hopes. Yet he encouraged me that a new generation base station would work with my LF-X1 monitor and they would be happy to help me set that up, if and when I purchase one.

Does anyone know if (and how) proper communication can be established between a monitor and base station of different serial numbers? I would love to get my Locationfree TV operating the way it should without having to buy another base station.

As for the ebay seller, through persistent communication and being a man of his word, refunded $150 via Pay Pal despite much skepticism on my part.

can you get hold of the LFA-PC2 s/w at all to try the base station out on a PC?

My X5 Tv and base station do have same serial numbers, just checked. But am of the understanding that more X5 TV devices can be had on same base station as it has a mode in setup for adding more?

Its certainly a sorry state of affairs for support by users of the LF. The Forums don’t answer along with the Yahoo group.  The SlingMedia http://www.slingcommunity.com is firing away.  You’d expect some enthusiasm in the likes of trying to get the devices to do things beyond what they were made to do like multiple broadcasts, fiddle for extra remote brands etc.. Or even making the X1, X5, and X11 base stations work with PSPs.

Just a small correction: LF-X11 base does work with PSP.
You can pair your X1 monitor with LF-PK1 and LF-B10/B20 Base Stations. I believe you should be able to pair your X1 with the base you got (though your serial does not match), but the only thing you will be missing is the Home mode. On the Go mode should work just fine.
It looks like Japanese LF-PK1 is getting some love from Sony and has 2 new firmware updates, but there is no updates for the US.  :cry:
