Hi,

I have performed a clean install of WXP Pro on my TR2A.  I have had to create a set of recovery disks from someone elses machine (also a TR2A).  Can someone please tell me how to get my Hot Keys, Power Panel etc back.  I dont want the recovery procedure to completly reinstall teh OS etc - but it does not give me teh option to just get the Apps.  Can someone please help me on this.  Its driving me nuts :-(

Hey,

did u try inserting disc 1 of the recovery disc set ?? If yes, it should popup a list of utils to install. Atleast thats how it worked on my tr3ap3. From there u can select utils like hotkey, powerpanel, etc.

Yeah…Im in the same boat…however here are my problems….one, I tried putting in the CD as you should be able to do to reload the programs…but of course you have to have some libraries or something from Sony installed…even after I tried this I could not get the pop up to install programs to come up…

Then, after I did my clean install of XP, my Hard Drive comes up as E and the mem stick drive comes up as C?!?  This is also causing me major problems….any thoughts anyone!

tell me 1 thing guys…have u’ll taken care those devices which show ! against them in the device manager ?

i have written 1 myself for the tr3ap3. u can find that in the software forum.

I have installed all drivers I can…primarily the USB2.0 software from intel as I read about in the other instructions for the upgrade, plus all original drivers from the site, and all updated drivers from the site….I still have an unrecognised audiio device in device manager which I have tried several times to remedy with the audio driver with no luck..Im lost..

its for the tr3 but there really shouldn’t be much difference.

1 more thing…when i said recovery disc 1..i didn’t mean the 1st disc of the entire set. when i created my recovery discs i landed up with 10 discs. the 1st one was “startup disc” and the rest 9 were numbered from 1 to 9. so when i say 1st recovery disc i actually mean the 1st disc of those 9 numbered discs.

Thanks a lot!  I have already been through about 10 trys of this trying different things, so what’s one more if it works right!  Anyway, did you experience that drive problem when you did the clean install?

r u referring to the one where harddrive becomes e and some other drive becomes c ?

not on this laptop, but i have experienced it before on my desktop and recently my roommate had the same prob on his desktop. i guess its just bad luck…when setting up xp this time, del all the partitions, and do an entire format (the long format will take abt 10-15 mins but i guess that will be better).

Ok - I dont know how much help this will all be - but here goes.

What you need to get everything apart from the camera (which I am still working on) working is the Sony Shared directory.  This needs to be in c:/Program files/common files/.  I was lucky enough to get this from another TR2a - and now everything works.  You stil need to download the relevant drivers/apps from the Sont support website mind. 

I am still working on the camera - should get it working today - I am not gonna let it beat me.  I’ll keep you guys posted.
