I have a TR1MP and the hard drive is playing up, I keep getting a critical error warning when I start it up, I need to replace the drive, Im just looking for the cheapest drive to replace it with, Im not too pushed to get anything bigger than 30GB, but if there is any bigger HDD that are worth the extra few quid, Ill go for it, Will any 1.8” HDD work in the TR1MP?

Where is the best place to buy them? Ebay?

Do all 1.8” HDD fit into the TR1MP?  Alot of the pictues ive seen on ebay seem to have the connectors on the shorter side of the hard drive (top of it if it was in an ipod) but the HDD in my TR1 seems to be on the longer side of the HDD?

Im looking at the TOSHIBA MK6006GAH or TOSHIBA MK3006GAL

I currently have a Hitachi DK13FA 30D will it make any difference with connections?

No you need to buy a hitachi since toshiba has differnt connectors.

Phew, I was just about to buy a Toshiba one…....  is it possble to buy the connector, or is it just easier to buy the hitachi, they seem to be harder to buy and much more expensive, anyone have any ideas of the cheapest place to get them?

Yes it is possible but ya hitachi would be best bet.

Do you have any idea what, if any ipods contain the Hitachi HDD, I have access to a few old ipods, Cus I would like to try them out before I fork out for a new drive…..

Oh and where would I get an adaptor from toshiba to Hitachi?

Meh sorry I’m not to good on ipods but i know someone on this forum is and for buying a connector i dont know number of part since people i know who did it took it from a broken TR from there friend etc.

That one looks great ive known and seen people replace using that drive. Looks good, 1.8, 4200rpm thats it.

Brilliant, Managed to get one off ebay finally, Had a few close calls with wrongly listed HDD though.
