[quote author=“gotolam”]Gundam- Your comments on ASUS are laughable. One, because they don’t make much sense and two, because it clearly shows you don’t know a whole lot about computers.
ASUS has been and will be around for a looooong time. They’re known to be the cadillac of motherboard manufacturers, so why is it so far a stretch for them to make laptops?
I like my TR, but i’m not going to slam everybody else’s stuff just because its not a Sony. Sounds like you’re trying to justify spending all that extra cash on a four letter word.
Gotolam is correct. ASUS is a very reputable company. ASUS also happens to be a popular OEM for a lot of well-known companies (like Apple and others) so they do have a lot of expertise in the actual manufacturing of laptops.
That said, you have to separate what ASUS makes for themselves and what they make for others. Companies that contract with ASUS may have strict quality standards or high specifications that ASUS has to follow. That doesn’t mean that ASUS will do the same for their own products. ASUS is not currently in the market for premium high margin laptops so they put in less costly parts and may not manufacture to the high standards that their clients dictate. This allows them to offer (in their minds) a better value to their customers since it’s low priced. It also allows them to get the product out fast and cheap with the hope of selling a lot of volume or attracting 2nd tier computer companies who take the existing design and re-brand it.
