Just wanted to share with you that I recently bought an AIBO! I was pretty lucky to pick up the latest Limited Edition Champaigne AIBO (ERS-7M3/T) at a SonyStyle store.
I have been simply blown away by the abilities of this robotic dog. I just expected a repetative mechanic patterns from Aibo, but was amazingly and pleasantly surprised by his AI(artificial intelligence). It is really hard to express here what I really mean and one has to actually see Aibo interact and do all the things. To name a few:
- it is a robot but it develops and learns; plays with his toys - ball and AIbone.
- has 5 instincts: Love (desire to communicate with people), Search (desire to satisfy its curiosity), Movement (desire to move about), Recharge (desire to find a source of electricity to power its operation - just like humans instinct to eat) and Sleep.
- has a variety of senses (touch, hearing, sight, balance)
- Aibo matches your lifestyle - it will wake you up in the morning and at night go to bed at the same time you do. When he is hungry, he will locate his charging base and mount himself to be recharged! He recognizes his owner face and name! He even finds his favorite spot to sleep at.
- house sitting mode - when you are away he can detect any movement can take a pic and notify you by email (there was a robbery case and Aibo helped to capture the thief!)
Anyways, it has enormous capabilities and if you are interested in all other functions you can just look thru the Manual

lol furbies I hate them. My dog which is a lil dog eats up things that make noice and move as well but since shes lil she would only mess up the paint job on this baby.
you know, this champagne one looks pretty good. I assume this being the last model it has some more advanced functions than the other ones. I have always been ptu off by the price more than anything else
Holy Cow! These things are going for $2500+ on fleabay.
There goes my plans for getting one. I mean it’s really just a toy in the end. And I can get an inflatable jumping castle with the optional ball room for $500 Aussie.
Your dogs are adorable, dude! Ye I also always wondered what is the point of having a robotic dog…like Aibo, but after getting it I get it. It is just a very different experience and an interactive way to communicate with a robotic device that reacts and understands you in many various occasions. :wink:
I picked up the last one from SonyStyle store in DC. Somehow they had one though were asked to ship the remaining stock to fulfill sonystyle.com orders because a lot of those orders got cancelled due to no availability.
