Here’s a long-shot…

Is there any way of stealing a 5V supply to feed the HDD side USB socket with more juice?  I.e. more amps…
The USB standard is limited to 0.5A But i know some desctop usb sockets can supply more.

So is there somewhere inside our TR, near the battery/AC input that has 5V with more power…  there must be somewhere as a lot of parts are running at 5V…

I was thinking of routing a flying lead, soldered on where neccessary and disconnecting the USB’s existing 5V connection…

Hopefully this might start up those big external hard disks… i.e. my 2.5” 160GB Seagate Momentus.

I think someone has done it already.  I dont remember where I saw that.
What he did was take out the CDROM driver and replace it with a 2.5 in hard drive and boot from it.

was that in a TR???
