OK dudes,
I have this problem which is not TR related but if anyone could help…

I run outlook 2003 on 2 machines.  In each one there is a common(company) account (1 unique email) that everyone should be allowed to send and another one personal.

I have also a central storage via the ethernet (I have the netsidk) and every user can write and read on this hard disk.

HOw can have the same outlook PST file opened on both machines.  Only one is allowed per time.  It goes without saying that both machines should be able to handle in one place (at the netdisk)  the company account mails and read what has been sent or received..  (hope I did not confuse you too much..)

Could you suggest something else? ANy oher options I should consider?  or should I seek a mail server solution and if so which one is the simplest

Actually I think the easiest way for you to do this to a degree would be with an IMAP server. I run one on my machine so I can check my e-mail in various locations without it deleting e-mails so I can get them on my phone, desktop and laptop with no problems.

Also when e-mails are read it will mark them as read on the other machines. Very good tech. The only thing I am not sure is if you can set it for certain people to send and others not to, etc. I’m pretty sure you cannot because it’s more for personal mailboxes.

I think you’ll need a good mail server program which should meet your needs. Something with groupware type functions in it.

A ghetto way to do it if you don’t have IMAP available, as I don’t, is to have one machine be the “main” machine that deletes mail from the server after it reads it and the other(s) do(es) not. Blind copy yourself on important replies from the other machines that you’d like to keep on the main machine. That way your main machine has a complete record and the other machines just download new mail whenever you happen to be using them. That’s why you have the laptop, right?

If you need more than this, think about Exchange.

well i have found about this little utility called Public Outlook.

First thing on monday i’ll test it and I find out if it helps.

Setup comes with two installations one for server and one for client.
