I have had my T1XP for about a year now, and everytime I use it I am still amazed by the build quality, the screen, the size and the power considering the size.

I have looked at the new machines and I am tempted but I just can’t justify the investment as my T1 is still working beautifully and for a lot more money I’m not getting that much of an upgrade.

My T1 was a great buy at £800 (from ebay) and for traveling it’s just awesome. The battery life is still great and I have a second battery for long flights so i can watch films.

The best gadget I have ever bought?..... Probably!!

Anyone else still impressed by their T series?

I was considering a TX but the difference is minimal with my T250 and there were reports of fan noise with the TX. I was in the process of selling the T250 for a new SZ120/160 but the buyer changed his mind. Instead of being dissappointed I was relieved. I can carry my littlle T250 anywhere with a shoulder strap DVD player carry case that was bought from Radio Shack and modified a bit to fit the T250. And with the Verizon BroadbandAccess PC card I can get on the internet anywhere, anytime; even at a park, in a store or sitting in a car.

And with Alchohol 100% I can run video games from the hard drive like Microsoft Midtown Madness or Oni; no need to carry around a CD.

So I’ve decided to keep it unless something equally as small with dual core and a dedicated GPU comes along.

I must chime in.  I have played with the SZ recently and it makes me realize how much I like my TX.  I don’t worry about the dreaded TX fan noise because I rarely leave it plugged in (except to charge it) and on battery the fan rarely comes on.  Even when it does, it is not that bad.  The build quality is excellent compared to the SZs.  And the one thing I cannot get over is how HUGE the SZ seems compared to the T series.  Once you get used to the portability of these small machines, you cannot go back to the big monsters.  And I have noticed that these amazingly small machines hold their value better than the regular notebooks because they are not updated as often (mainly the cpu).  Long live the Ts.

True.. once you got used to the ultraportables there’s no turning back..
But think about this, laptops are almost running close to Desktop specs in terms of speed and video card usage, specifically for gaming, the ultraportables are next.  Can’t wait.  The T’s will suffice right now, since I can still play Warcraft 3 on it, no complaints. 

One more thing I saw a cracked TX on a CompUSA store, and I tell yah that 5mm thick carbon fiber doesn’t protect the screen much from breakage.  Same thing on the SZ160 and above with carbon fiber screens. they have the same thickness, and so I bent it a bit and woe! yeah it got cracked even more.. oops good thing it was a display unit.. better run or else.. 
Recommendation is to buy a sleeve for your SZ, a thick one so you can put it in your bag.  I like the TX, but it has minimal upgrade from my T.  :idea:

Yeah the TX look is really cool but not enough for me to upgrade my T250. If I were to do it all over again though of course the TX would be my choice, but mostly for looks.

Looking forward to dual core. I could go as high as a 12” wide angle screen but must have dual core and at least a nVidia 7400 or ATI equivalent before I upgrade.  The SZ series seems too big; especially the hand rest area, If it was more rectangular (wide) and narrower it would look more pleasing to me; as it is it looks too square. Wasn’t the S series narrower?

I don’t know if I’ll ever live to see the perfect or at least close to perfect laptop in a wide screen 12” or smaller size. Curious about what Steve is doing to those dual core iBooks though! My T250 is cute but looks so dated next to the aluminum Powerbook. I love metal. If not metal then gimme a better carbon fiber design.

The display units suffer due to some peoples ignorance. I noticed both the SZ and TX on display were locked down by a frame that had a metal bar that prevented closing each unit. One woman tried to close the SZ, making me flinch. Looked like she was about to break it. Next, she went over to the TX and did the same thing. The SZ already had a broken key…

I bet you went to CircuitCity or some CompUSA store where they lock their display model with bars.  Liek someone is going to steal them, or maybe from their salepeople hehe.  And yeah when everytime I see someone closes and opens sony laptops I said be carefull, or just immediately help him/her but when someone does it on another brand, it’s ok it’s not Sony anyway (racist -  )  but hey I can’t help it when I see a bauty being maltreated..  :wink:
